Weekly Blog 5-22-10

wow what a last 2 weeks, this intern ship at interactive intelligence is amassing. i have learned so much from how to apply real skills learned in school to how to make the processes work at the company and kinda start to see the big picture of how a national and well in this case a global company is ran. I got to get going but i wanted to give a brief update. on another note, as per Dr. Thomas Ho's request i did finish my slide share and i synced it to my audio presentation from that class. here is the link in case anyone is interested.

Graduation day, and I cannot say that It will come and go soon enough! I wanted today to be so special and grand, alas I have come down with a cold and my head is runny, I have a headache and well overall i feel pretty crappy. so its time to pump me with the RX drugs to help me get through the day and hopefully not feel half as bad. I wish this would have happened any other time than this weekend. I have not been sick in over a year, and go figure it happens when I have the chance to walk accost the stage with my graduating class.

well my girlfriend just came back inside and I made her coffee, I am off to figure out how to cope with this stuffy head, soar throat, and overall pain in my head and chest

good luck to all those who graduate today

WOW! who ever thought a device can change a persons life. I may have gotten sucked into this but the Droid has changed me. in the 2 days I have owned this phone I have gotten more functionality and use out of it all my previous phones combined. and the best part IT IS 100% free. well minus the monthly bill. if you are good at targeted searches you can get items like Pandora for music, Remote RDP for remote desktop , netmeter, speed test, sms backup, wifi analyzer, advanced task killer, slacker (another free music program ), and the best one so far EasyTeather! this program lets you use your phone as a mobile broad band card. so now my brand new laptop can be anywhere and be mobile, actually I was going to post a blog mobility just to prove i can do it and i think i will later. This phone has amassing potential i think if i can figure out how to pair a bluetooth keyboard to it would make it all the better. but that is the only idea i have so far for productivity aspect. not many complaints so far, only thing is it appears like all good operating systems it does have some applications that like to crash but i think it is how they were coded. and well for free what do you expect. but the ones i listed above come recommended by me to install. I will continue my quest to find the newest and latest free applications for the IT professional. until then Jacob signing off saying WOW. 2 days! and damn proud owner of a Droid

weekly blog 5-4-10

Ahhh Finally I presented my presentation in the CIT49900 class. I liked it, I feel I did a great job. My power point presentation could have had more flare but overall I think it was great. the presentation lasted about 25 minutes. plenty long enough to discuss the topic and compare the two countries. although I think that I may need to have included more on the Singapore infrastructure. I wanted to go way more in depth on so many different topics but I could not because I would have taken HOURS! just glazing over the topics felt odd but honestly it was pretty breathtaking, my mind was racing. actually that is why I am typing this blog currently because I wanted to organize my thoughts. The presentations that have been given so far are very nice I have learned a lot of things from other countries to local Indianapolis. I think I now understand to some limited extent the power of Social Media and Networking. you can make or break your life on this topic. especially using services such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Blogger, Diigo and other social services. and I have been convinced , Although semi reluctantly, that I need to use social media as a part of my daily life as to communicate and make it to where I can communicate my thoughts. I will continue to Post Blogs although probably not as much as I should. But rest assured I would like to continue to use the services I have learned about. and I will work on putting my own twist and finding my own nitch in the social world and until then Thanks a lot CIT49900

weekly blog 4-30-10

The dawn of a new day is upon me. I have almost successfully completed my paper. it has been 7 hours of almost non stop typing and referencing! and at last draft 15 is complete. that last and final revision of the paper I started for this project, I am taking a break from typing on the paper as to re collect my thoughts and prepare for the power point and the appropriate references. I was never good at references, if i had to admit that XD. I just hope that I find the proper way to cite my sources.

This semester is drawing to a close, and with that My degree also. I have finally gotten the word I am 100% sure I am receiving my Associates Degree in Computer Information Technology Networking or CIT: Networking for short.

I was supposed to also receive a Certificate in Information Security, but due to some class scheduling issues I will have to wait to get the certificate at the end of 2010 along with my Bachelors Degree in CIT: Networking

My next delema... is to continue education now or go to work full time. I think I have come to a compromise, I want to go for my Doctoral and eventually my PHD. but I need to take baby steps. I think that if I work in the work force for 2 to three years coupled with obtaining my certificates in A+ NET+ SEC+ CCNA, CCIE, CISSP, VCP, MCSE and other various related Technology Certs

so for now I will venture into the unknown with my internship at Interactive Intelligence and see where that takes me. Hopefully a Full time job and a bright future. I think I am on the right track to becoming a great assert. I only Hope that I can continue to learn for the rest of my life and then possibly later in life pursue becoming a professor so i can pass that knowledge on to others.

weekly blog 4-24-10

Well it has been a bit since I have written It is coming to the end of the semester and a lot is coming down to a crunch I got a lot of work still to do for the Broad Band project and I also have this huge Risk analysis Project due in another class. I get to do a fake interview with Bluefish Wireless on the 29th for my CIT310 class and I have to write a a paper over that. I work today from noon to 730pm. That kills the majority of the day for me. alas I need to make the day into a 26 hour day as to cram all the crap I need to finish into one day and get it worked out. I got a lot of Power point work to accomplish and I hope it is all going to get done. Well I got to get ready for work I will blog more later with an update later tonight about where I stand I hope, That is If i don't get too tied up in typing papers.
